For our new European edition of the mag, we were able to snag an interview with the very HOT Dolan Wolf. You might have seen him at R18 at the Eagle London, or on film for Butch Dixon, Butch Bear or even Triga. Robin Gray caught up with him and got the low down.
Probing a Porn Star

It’s a hard job, interviewing porn stars, but someone has to do it, and this month I caught up with the very sexy Dolan Wolf to give him a good probing!
R: Thanks so much, Dolan, for agreeing to this chat. So let’s start at the beginning, where were you born?
It’s my pleasure, and thanks for asking me to be in your debut magazine. I was born in South Buckinghamshire in a very conservative, home-counties, Enid Blyton reading, rugby and public school kind of world.
R: Sounds idyllic!
I loved it as a boy but I couldn’t live there now. I do enjoy visiting my sister who still lives around there with her family.
R: It’s lovely that you still have those ties. So what was young Dolan’s life like?
My childhood was fantastic, much of which I appreciated at the time, even more of which I appreciate now that I know so many adults who are horribly scarred by trauma from their childhoods that I escaped.
R: Sounds like you had a very supportive family.
Yes I had loving parents, older sister, younger brother, aunts, uncles and cousins that I looked forward to seeing at Christmas, birthdays and holidays. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t flawless, but I know now how lucky I was.
R: Indeed. What were you like as a child?
I was a handful! Not malevolent, but insatiably curious and exuberant, combined with poor physical coordination, which landed me in trouble and/or hospital so often with cuts and scrapes that I’m told my mother was on the list of suspected child abusers!
R: Ha ha, I used to get bruises and cuts that I couldn’t account for either, I guess it was the sign of the times that nobody really raised an eyebrow and it was considered the innocence of youth. How different it is today! What about school?
I enjoyed school and did pretty well at most subjects, though not so much at history or biology, which I found I needed to grow up a bit to really engage with. I was terrible at sports, but thanks to a PE teacher I had when I was 9 or 10, I picked up an early interest in physical fitness.
R: Well we can certainly see the evidence of that! Here’s a good question I love to ask everyone, what did you want to be when you grew up?
For a long time I wanted to be a lawyer, but at the age of 16 I achieved a mediocre score on a legal aptitude test and abandoned that plan. Then I wanted to be a writer and film maker. That hasn't changed and I’m still 17 years younger than Daniel Dafoe when he wrote Robinson Crusoe!
R: So from the writer/film maker dream, how old were you when you got into porn?
It depends where you measure from. I dipped my toe in when I was about 28 with a few sessions of live web cam, a stills shoot and one awful, awful corporal punishment themed video that I'm glad to say probably only 10 people have a copy of.
R: Not the best start then?!
Not really, I was 37 when I did the first thing that anyone is likely to have seen. During production its title was something like 'Muscle Saloon' but it was released as 'The Big One'.
R: So quite a late bloomer then, how did you get into porn?
The short answer is that I won Mr Eagle London in 2008, which gave me a confidence boost and a photo shoot for QX magazine. Someone at Butch Bear films saw one of the photos from the shoot and invited me to come and film with them in Las Vegas.
R: That simple huh?
No no, there were lots of finer details that made the difference between it not happening and happening like timing, other introductions, encouragement from contacts in the industry, and the fact that my life in no way depended on it.
R: Ah I see, one of those right time, right place things. But what made you get into porn in the first place?
Above all because by the time the opportunity to film with Butch Bear presented itself, it was now or never really. They say you only regret the things you haven't done, and I'm not sure if that's entirely true, but I knew I'd regret it if I didn't give it a go.
R: Seize the moment!
Indeed! There were lots of other reasons too, like the chance to have fantasy hot sex.
R: I can see that!
Yes the idea of being such an exhibitionist was horny and I also had a certain need for validation. It has been a different experience than I expected, so the reasons I keep doing it are different from the reasons I got into it.
R: This could be a contentious question but what has been your hottest or most favourite scene?
You know how unfair a question that is to ask someone who has done any porn, right?
R: I thought so!
Most of the scenes I've done have been fun, some have been very hot sex, and few have been less so. But you need to understand that filming porn, though fun in many ways, is often hard work too. A lot of the positions are chosen for their visual appeal, not comfort and even if the sex is hot, when the director has enough footage of a particular position, you have to move on, which is always sooner than you would move on if you were just there to have hot sex.
R: But if I pushed you for an answer…
You’re certainly probing now! I've enjoyed almost all of the scenes I've shot, but if I’m pushed I’d say I have particularly fond memories of three scenes… my first COLT shoot in San Francisco, my scene with Christian Herzog for Cazzo, and my recent Hot House film, 'Big Bad Wolf'.
R: Cool. Well I can certainly testify to Big Bad Wolf being VERY hot! What would you say to someone who's thinking about doing porn?
Be as clear as you can be with yourself about why you're doing it. Then you can measure your experience of doing it against your original motivations and decide if it's working out for you or not. It's worth noting that the industry has changed a lot since the internet came along. It had already changed a lot when I started and it's very different now.
R: I was going to ask what the rise in amateur porn has done to the industry…
Well producers are paying a lot less per scene, so while most porn actors were never likely to earn a fortune from it, it’s even less likely now.
R: As we’ve already alluded to, you have a great range of films that cover a number of sexual interests, so what's your favourite sex activity?
The range of sex in my films reflects the range of sexual interests I have, especially the kinky stuff. The most important factor for me isn't the activity but great mutual chemistry. I don't enjoy any activity if my partner isn't into it too. In all things I like variety, use of imagination, intensity and connection, but my favourite thing is pushing boundaries - mine or my partner's or both.
R: Well you certainly push a lot of boundaries in your films!
Yeah, and that's partly why the thing I've been enjoying most in the last few years is fisting, because you can do that for a long time and keep pushing the boundaries.
R: Yes, that is certainly one of those things that you can keep exploring. Finally on the porn front, tell me about your latest release.
My latest release is scene in a new military themed Hot House film called ‘Enlist Your Fist’. We shot outdoors on location in Palm Springs at something like 10pm at night, which was a new one for me. My scene partner was the very sexy Alessandro Del Toro. He drove me from LA to Palm Springs for the shoot and we shared a room, so we had plenty of time to bond before the scene, and that was especially great because he is a super sweet and very inspiring young man.
R: Alongside your porn work, you have hosted events like R18 at the Eagle in London. How did you get into that and what do you enjoy the most about hosting these nights?
I can't really remember how hosting events and stuff like that started. In 2002 I started a health promotion job that periodically involved going around bars in Soho and talking to total strangers, as well as organising events, so the transition from doing those kind of things to the first time I had to play host for a sex party must have been so natural that I can't remember when it was.
R: Force of habit then really!
Yeah, I enjoy doing what I can to make people feel welcome and ready to have fun, but most of all I love helping to break the ice by being the first one 'on the dance floor'. Everyone wants to play at parties like R18, but unless someone gets the ball rolling then often hardly anyone will.
R: You recently spent three months in the States and your Twitter (@DolanWolfXXX) showed you had a lot of fun! What were your highlights?
There are loads! Doing a crazy show at The Black Party in New York; going to CLAW (The Cleveland Leather Awareness Weekend) for the first time and delivering two workshops; shooting with some more very sexy guys for Hot House and being honoured with both the cover and the title of a film; catching up with great friends and making new ones; meeting leather community legend Guy Baldwin; my most fun International Mister Leather weekend in Chicago so far, including more playing coach at the Bound Jocks stall; meeting the adorable porn legend Cory Jay in LA and luring him out of ten years of retirement as a bottom to film a flip flop fisting scene in Palm Springs for Studfist.com; and my first Fist Fest.
R: Wow what an amazing few months! So how do you top that?! What plans do you have the next few months, anything exciting on the horizon?
This is the bit where I'm supposed to say I've got exciting things on the horizon, whether that's true or not isn't it?
R: Yes please!
Well, I do have exciting plans ahead but not much is concrete! I’m off to Spain shortly and in theory performing in a dance music video. I will probably do some more filming with Alphamale soon after I get back, and I expect there will be plenty more filming and events, but as I said before, I still want to be a writer / film maker when I grow up. If all goes to plan it could be happening very soon, so watch this space...
